RSI and USABO Alumni Named Regeneron Scholars

RSI AND USABO ALUMNI AMONG TOP 300 SCHOLARS IN
REGENERON SCIENCE TALENT SEARCH 2021

McLean, VA (January 11, 2021) —The Center for Excellence in Education (CEE) is pleased to announce that 21 Research Science Institute (RSI) alumni and a USA Biolympiad (USABO) alumnus are among the top 300 scholars in the Regeneron Science Talent Search 2021, the nation’s oldest and most prestigious science and math competition for high school seniors.

“I’m elated that numerous RSI and USABO alumni continue to be represented among the top 300 scholars of this prominent academic and research competition. The RSI program is one of the most prestigious international summer research programs in the world for high school students. USABO is the premiere biology competition for high school students in the United States.  These programs clearly prepare students for success,” said Joann DiGennaro, CEE’s President.

Bennett High School, MD; Anne Liang, duPont Manual High School, KY; Addison Liu, Unionville High School, PA; Daphne Liu, West High School, UT; Andrei Mandelshtam, University High School, CA; Sayalee Patankar, Adlai E. Stevenson High School, IL; Melanie Quan, Las Lomas High School, CA; Shreya Ramachandran, American High School, CA; Kaien Yang, Thomas Jefferson High School for Science and Technology, VA; Vivian Yee, International Academy, MI; Amy Zhou, William P. The 2020 USABO alumnus who is among the 2021 Regeneron Science Talent search Top 300 scholars is: Victor Li, The Wheatley School, NY.

The Regeneron Science Talent Search scholars were selected from 1,760 applications received from 611 high schools across 45 states, Washington, DC, Puerto Rico and 10 countries. Scholars were chosen based on their exceptional research skills, commitment to academics, innovative thinking and promise as scientists, and hail from 198 American and international high schools in 37 states, Puerto Rico, Chinese Taipei, and Singapore.

On January 21, 40 of the 300 scholars will be named Regeneron Science Talent Search finalists. From March 10-17 all 40 finalists will compete for more than $1.8 million in awards provided by Regeneron.
