There are health workforce shortages across Virginia and the country that lead to barriers to accessing care, health disparities between populations, and worse health outcomes. Speakers:

Sarah Ying, M.D. graduated from The Johns Hopkins University School of Medicine in 1995 and completed her residency there in 1997. She then went on to complete a number of Neurology and Neuroimaging fellowships at prestigious institutions. Dr. Ying has ten years of experience in pharmaceutical clinical development and currently works in Clinical Development at uniQure. Dr. Ying will share an overview of the pharmaceutical development process, highlight the various roles in that process and discuss her work on rare diseases.

Edgar F. Talbott lll is an Assistant Professor of Pharmacy Practice at the Appalachian College of Pharmacy in Oakwood, VA. He received his Doctor of Pharmacy degree from the Appalachian College of Pharmacy in 2009.  Dr. Talbott is a native of Buchanan County and a graduate of Grundy High School. He attended the Virginia Military Institute in Lexington, Virginia where he graduated with a B.S. degree in Physics.
