McLean, Virginia – October 9, 2020 – The Center for Excellence in Education (CEE) is hosting “Go Behind the Scenes on STEM,” a Zoom session on Saturday, October 31, 2020 from 1:00-3:00 p.m. ET for high school students to learn about its science, technology, engineering, and mathematics (STEM) programs: Research Science Institute and USA Biolympiad. Registration is open to U.S. high school students nationwide.

“This virtual event is an excellent opportunity to expose talented high school students to STEM and to the Center’s programs,” said Joann P. DiGennaro, President of the Center. Students may register for the Zoom session at no cost online here. Students from historically underrepresented groups are encouraged to register.

Each summer, 80 of the world’s most academically accomplished high school juniors gather at the Massachusetts Institute of Technology for the Center’s Research Science Institute (RSI). RSI is cost-free to students. It combines rigorous coursework, a research mentorship, and an unforgettable summer with STEM scholars. Applications open November 22 and close January 16.

The USABO is a four-tier competition that demands the very best of 9-12 grade students in biology theoretical and laboratory knowledge. Since CEE began administering the USABO, every member of the “USA Biolympiad Team” has medaled at the International Biology Olympiad. The registration fee is $95 per school regardless of the number of student participants. Registration is open now online at https://www.usabo-trc.org and closes December 4.

Both RSI and USABO were held virtually in 2020 and continued to receive national and international recognition.
