Students Garner Top Awards

McLean, VA (August 9, 2018) – The Center for Excellence in Education (CEE) is pleased to announce its top Research Science Institute (RSI) award winners. There were five oral and five written presentations --- chosen out of 81 participants by an imminent panel of judges at the 35th annual RSI held at the Massachusetts Institute of Technology (MIT).  RSI took place from June 24 – August 3, 2018.

RSI top written winners:

In a congruent message, CEE announces two students were chosen by their peers to receive and be named Rickoids of the Year.  This award recognizes academic acumen, leadership, and personal demeanor, and is named for the late Admiral H.G. Rickover, father of the Nuclear Navy and a founder of CEE.

About the Research Science Institute

CEE’s Research Science Institute (RSI), nationally and international recognized, is offered in partnership with the Massachusetts Institute of Technology (MIT). RSI is a six week intensive program that provides students with the opportunity to conduct original, cutting edge research in state-of-the-art university laboratories, hospitals and corporate research facilities.  Following the conclusion of RSI, CEE continues to provide interaction and enrichment opportunities for alumni throughout the 8-10 years of their undergraduate and graduate years. RSI is the single U.S. program offered at no cost for students competitively selected to attend.  Funding for the program comes from corporations, foundations, individuals and U.S. government agencies. 

About the Center for Excellence in Education

The Center for Excellence in Education was founded in 1983 by the late Admiral H.G. Rickover and Joann P. DiGennaro, President of the Center. The Center's mission is to nurture high school and university scholars to careers of excellence and leadership in science, technology, engineering, and mathematics – and to encourage collaboration between and among leaders in the global community. CEE’s programs include the Research Science Institute (RSI), the USA Biology Olympiad (USABO), and the Teacher Enrichment Program (TEP).
