Tributes to Admiral Rickover at CEE’s 35th Anniversary Celebration

Admiral H.G. Rickover established the nonprofit Center for Excellence in Education (CEE) to nurture students to careers of excellence and leadership in science, technology, engineering and mathematics (STEM). CEE will celebrate its 35th Anniversary on Oct. 12-14, 2018 in Cambridge, MA.
 
Former submariners, Navy veterans, students of nuclear engineering, and other interested guests are invited to the Center’s special 35th Anniversary tribute to Admiral Rickover from 4 – 5:30 p.m. on Friday, Oct. 12 at the Broad Institute (415 Main St., Cambridge, MA 02142). The panel discussion will be moderated by Adm. William A. Owens, Vice Chair of the Joint Chiefs of Staff, USN Ret., and will include panelists Adm. Edmund Giambastiani, Vice Chair of the Joint Chiefs of Staff, USN Ret.; William L. Givens, Naval Reactors (ret.); Pamela L. Krahl, Capt., USN and alum of CEE’s Research Science Institute ’85; and Prof. Neil Todreas, KEPCO Professor of Nuclear Science and Engineering, and Professor of Mechanical Engineering (Emeritus) at MIT.
 
On Saturday, October 13, a second Rickover-centered panel discussion at the Broad Institute from 12:30 p.m. - 1:30 p.m. will be moderated by Bill Becklean, USN, Ret., who worked at Naval Reactors from 1959 to 1966. Saturday’s panel will include Edson (Tip) Brolin, USNA, former Naval Reactors and NR-1 Project Officer; Jack Cook, USN, Commanding Officer of USS Woodrow Wilson (Ret.); Mario Fiori, Commanding Officer of the Naval Underwater Systems Center (Ret.); and Pete Van Nort, USNA, Naval Reactors and Atomic Energy Commission veteran.
