CEE ANNOUNCES THE 2010 CONGRESSIONAL LUNCHEON TO BE HELD MARCH 24 ON CAPITOL HILL

CEE Celebrates the Success of its Educational Programs and Welcomes Members of Congress

March 23, 2010 - (McLean, VA) - The Center for Excellence in Education (CEE), with sponsorship from SAIC, will host its Annual Congressional Luncheon Wednesday, March 24, 2010 at 11:30 a.m. The event will be held in the historic Russell Senate Caucus Room of the Russell Senate Office Building, Washington DC.

Senators Joseph Lieberman (CT) and Lindsey Graham (SC),Congressman Eric Cantor (VA), and Congresswoman Jane Harman (CA), CEE Honorary Board Members, along with Senator Mark Begich (AK), will make comments at the event.

The luncheon will celebrate the success of the Center’s Research Science Institute (RSI) offered in partnership with the Massachusetts Institute of Technology, and the United States Biology Olympiad (USABO), collaboratively sponsored with Purdue University. CEE will announce the National Lab Skills Symposium to be kicked off in April 2010.

“CEE remains at the forefront of identifying and mentoring young scholars who will be the innovators and leaders of the U.S. in science, technology, engineering and mathematics,” said Joann P. DiGennaro, President of CEE.

The Research Science Institute is a six week summer enrichment program emphasizing advanced theory and research in the sciences, technology, engineering, and mathematics. The USABO focuses on stimulating young scholars’ intellectual curiosity and developing their critical thinking skills in biological reasoning.

The Center for Excellence in Education’s National Lab Skills Symposium will be held in April 2010 in Washington, DC. The purpose of the Symposium is to discuss “best practices” in laboratory education, and strategies for maximizing lab skills training for high school students and teachers to ensure a future diverse, talented workforce.
