CENTER FOR EXCELLENCE IN EDUCATION’S 2010 RSI ALUMNUS WINS $50,000 SIEMENS SCHOLARSHIP

McLean, Virginia – December 15, 2010 – The Center for Excellence in Education (CEE) announces Jeffrey Shen, a 2010 Research Science Institute Alumnus, along with his team garnered a $50,000 Siemens Scholarship. Jeffrey’s team competed at the Siemens Competition National Finals. Mr. Shen attends Park Tudor High School in Indianapolis, Indiana.

The Siemens Competition in Math, Science & Technology, a signature program of the Siemens Foundation, is administered by the College Board. The twelfth annual awards were presented during a press conference on December 6th at The George Washington University.

“I am so pleased that Jeffrey Shen demonstrated his mathematical prowess and won a Siemens Scholarship along with his team,” said Joann DiGennaro, President, Center for Excellence in Education.

Six individuals and six teams competed at the National Finals after having achieved awards at regional competitions in November. Competitors presented research to a panel of judges comprised of nationally renowned scientists and mathematicians, lead by judge Dr. Thomas D. Jones, a scientist, author, pilot and former NASA astronaut.
